TAP_TracK: RFID-Based Attendance System for Municipal Employees of Northern Kabuntalan

Abstract

In order to guarantee employee accountability and the effective provision of public services, attendance monitoring is crucial. However, the Municipality of Northern Kabuntalan uses a manual attendance application that is vulnerable to proxy attendance, erroneous records, and delays. In order to automate attendance recording and enhance the municipality's attendance management procedure, this study set out to design, develop, and assess TAP_TracK: An RFID-Based Attendance System. In order to identify current issues and determine proposed system requirements, the study used a descriptive-developmental research design that included interviews, direct observation, and requirements analysis. PHP, HTML, JavaScript, MySQL, and PHPMyAdmin were applied in the development of the software in a local area network setting. A structured solution platform evaluation questionnaire based on the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Quality Model was used as the research tool. It was adapted to the goals and features of the suggested application. Reliability was determined through pilot testing using Cronbach's Alpha, indicating acceptable internal consistency, while the modified instrument underwent expert content validation by research advisers and information technology specialists to ensure its validity. The Municipality of Northern Kabuntalan's intended users, namely the HR Director, HR Assistant, and municipal staff, evaluated the platform using the ISO/IEC 25010 software quality characteristics. The software's functionality and user acceptability were assessed by analysing the evaluation data using frequency count, percentage, and weighted mean. The findings showed that TAP_TracK reduced human error, avoided proxy attendance, produced accurate attendance reports, and effectively automated attendance recording through RFID technology. High levels of functionality, usability, dependability, and general user acceptance were shown by the evaluation results. According to the study's findings, TAP_TracK offers local government offices a useful and efficient digital solution for managing attendance. Therefore, it is advised that the Municipality of Northern Kabuntalan implement the platform in order to boost employee accountability, improve operational efficiency, and help accelerate its digital transformation projects.
